Create an eyecatching horse advertisement

Final Image

We've all seen them, those poorly done stallion ads where there is a horse floating on a nice backdrop... often with their feet erased off or places on their bodies that are randomely blurred... and let's not forget the terrible cutout jobs. This seems especially prevalent with Quarterhorse stallion ads for some reason.

Extremely Fast Color Correction

Color Correction

Many times when I start working with pictures (particularly in banners), I'll come across a photo that is washed out, dull, too green, etc. Here is an EXTREMELY quick way to enhance the photos on a picture using Photoshop Levels and the eydropped tools. This tutorial should be good for beginners.

Give your banner a cool, transparent shape

Final Image from Tutorial

Alright, so in this tutorial we are going to go over making our banners into cool shapes. If you have not already done so, I STRONGLY suggest taking a look at my previous tutorial. It went into detail about some of the techniques I will be using in this tutorial.

Step 1

Open up Photoshop and open up an existing banner. If you haven't already done so, delete the plain white background layer.

Step 2

Select the Custom Shape Tool (U).

Banners: Making rounded corners

Shapes

Last tutorial (Basic Banner Tutorial), we covered some of the basic things I do to make a pretty decent looking banner. Due to time constraints I did not go over in much detail how to do the rounded corners.

Banners: Create an Eyecatching graphic quickly

So I get a lot of questions on how I make my banners. Each one is a little different, but Im going to go over some of the techniques I use practically every time.

This is what my final product is going to look like. It will vary depending on what colors and pictures you choose to use, but ultimately the style should come out similarily.

Favorite Kuler Schemes

Color Schemes

Kuler is an excellent resource for color schemes, especially for web design because they don't give you an overwhelming amount of colors (some sites will have color schemes that consist of more like 20 colors)

These are a few of my favorite themes that I just keep coming back to over and over again!
