Some of my Favorite Sites
There are a few sites out there that I use every single day and I think some of you might find them handy.
www.compfight.com
Compfight is just a search tool for flickr... however it's search is SO MUCH BETTER than flickr's. You can choose to search by tags or all text and you can choose which license you want to search by which is really handy when you are looking for creative commons stuff. On flickr you have to go to advanced search which just takes way too long. It also has a "seek original" option which is handy when you are looking for large pictures to use. It gives you a LOT of results per page and the search bar is fixed so its just really nice and easy to use.
www.sxc.hu
Stock Exchange is exactly what it sounds like. You do have to sign up for an account, but it is free. There are thousands of great photos to use and the community is really friendly. Most photos are released with "standard restrictions" that you can read about more on their site.
www.dafont.com
Tons and tons of free fonts. Don't know what Id do without this site. Ive tried to use other font sites and I just keep coming back to dafont.
www.psdtuts.com, www.vectortuts.com
Excellent tutorials for photoshop and illustrator. I have learned quite a bit from going through their tutorials.
www.deviantart.com (resources section)
Lots of high-quality brushes, textures, etc. Be sure to read individual user's license restrictions as it seems to vary from person to person. As with most stock sites, you should credit the sources where possible.
www.bittbox.com
Releases some nice freebies, textures, vector ornaments etc.
