Free Texture Roundup : Favorites

I get a lot of questions on where I find textures, so here is an in depth list of where I get them and why I use certain sites. Also be sure to check out some "hidden gems" I've found floating around teh internets. I have posted them below.

Texture Sites:

www.cgtextures.com
These guys have an unbelievably large collection of free textures. They give you a 15MB download limit per day... however they give you the choice of large or small size, and I have found that the small versions work fine for pretty much everything.

A quick search for "texture" will land you many, many results. You DO need an account on this site to download pictures.. but making an account is free and very well worth it.

Again, a quick search for "texture" or "grunge" will get you some good results. You do not need an account for this site. Downloads are zipped so you will need a program such as 7zip or winrar to extract them.
www.flickr.com or www.compfight.com
Compfight is just a flickr search tool that I use far more than the search on flickr itself. Make sure to switch your search options if you plan to use the work commercially or distribute or anything. I use compfight ALL the time.

Free textures.. can't get much better than that. No registration necessary and from what I have found there is no download limit. These guys also have a nice site, so its easy to navigate.
